Mike Eagle, CEO of IVAC Corporation, was hugely successful in his last corporate assignment as Vice President of a manufacturing facility. Impressed, his superiors proposed a move to running a subsidiary company to re-energize a poorly performing organization. But towards the end of his first year, Mike was feeling frustrated at the lack of improvement – nothing he had tried seemed to be working, and for the first time in his career he feared failure.
